May 2008

In May Grandma Shupe came down from Farmington, New Mexico to attend our sealing. I was busy preparing the food for the luncheon for the next day so Grandma, Aunt Sylvia, and my mom came over to help me get ready. Grandma Shupe said that it's tradition to give her grandbabies a sink bath. Lacy loved it and so did grandma!
This month is very close to our hearts. In May we were sealed as a family!
We had all of our family there and the spirit was so strong as we knelt across the alter from each other. And then when they brought Lacy in to be sealed we both started bawling and there was few dry eyes in the room. Lacy looked beautiful in her long blessing dress and she just stared at her daddy during the entire sealing. The day was bitter sweet because Kaylee wasn't able to be sealed to us that day. Kaylee's dad decided not to let her be sealed. I won't go into that whole drama here, but it was the hardest thing that I ever did to walk through the temple doors and leave Kaylee outside. I tried to focus and remember that this a first step. That once Jared and I are sealed, someday maybe Kaylee can be sealed to our family.
A lot of family came into town on both sides to enjoy the day with us! It was so great to see everyone and have people we love to share such a special day!

Here's the whole Davis family (except Wes who skipped out before family pictures)
Lacy with Grandma Petersen. She L.O.V.E.S her grandma!! After the sealing everyone went over to our church house were Jared gave Lacy her baby blessing. Jared was very nervous because it was the first time he's ever given a blessing and it was in front of all of our friends and family. But despite all of his nerves, he gave a wonderful baby blessing! Coming straight from the sealing and then hearing my baby be blessed by my husband who I love so much...I can't describe how full my heart felt! After the blessing we had a luncheon. I made my Fire Roasted Tomato & Chicken Tortilla Soup and jalapeƱo cornbread. Aunt Debbie made a yummy pudding desert, and my mom made her orange sherbet slush drink. We all sat around and talked and laughed!
Also in May we found out that Jared's mom was having some health issues. We were worried about her, so we decided to drive up to Show Low and Jared wanted to give her a blessing. My mom and dad went with us. We stayed at Jan and Joyce's house, it was Lacy's first time meeting them. On the way home we drove through Pinedale. Jared's family had founded Pinedale, and it was cool to drive around and see the old homestead still standing! We went to the cemetery and saw his grandpa Neils Petersen (the man who founded the town). This day happened to be on Memorial Day, so it was nice to be there and pay memory to such a remarkable man. Then we started heading back to the valley, but the weather was so nice and the mountains were so beautiful, we decided to stop and take pictures on the rim. Anything to stall coming back to the heat!!
