Girls Night!

My little girl is growing up! Which exciting, fun, scary, and sad all rolled into one! Her cousin Alicia is living with her dad and let's face it, guys just aren't good at the girly stuff. So he asked me if I could take Alicia for a night and do all the girl stuff with her that girls need to know as they start getting older.

I took Kaylee and Alicia to the store and gave them each a basket to carry. I walked them to the make-up aisle and taught them which brands of mascara work best and the difference between curved and straight brushes and mascara colors. Since Alicia is almost 12 years old she got a light brown color mascara. Not enough to really stand out when she wears it, but enough to make her feel like a young lady and give her good practice. Kaylee got clear mascara and clear lip gloss to start learning. (You can't see anything with the mascara, but it sure does boost Kaylee's self esteem to think that she's wearing make up ha ha). We also bought deodorant, facial soap and scrubs. Then we got Alicia razors, shaving gel. Although Kaylee was very jealous that her cousin got to start shaving her legs, Kaylee is WAY too young to have stubble on her legs, so she had to sit this activity out for another few years.

That night I did a home-made sugar rub facial and then they kicked back and eat cup cakes while the facial set. They LOVED it! And then later that afternoon I took them swimming! It was such a fun girls night and gave me a great opportunity to start the talks about changing and growing up!
