I was able to talk to grandma a few days ago before she was sedated. I told her that I loved her, and that we wanted to make a trip to Utah sometime soon and I needed her to get better because I wanted to see her. But she wasn't able to make it. She held on until all of her children were able to come to the hospital, and then they turned off her oxygen and she slipped away within a few minutes. I am relieved to know that she is not in pain, and most importantly, it's peaceful to know that I will see her again someday. I love you grandma!

Grandma Skousen
Grandma Skousen passed away today.
She was an amazing woman with so many life experiences! I was closest to Grandma Skousen more than my other grandparents because she was the only one who lived here in the valley, that we would go see often. My love of the holidays stem from Grandma Skousen. She always tried to shard to make the holidays special to us kids. She would have a big dinner, and then all of the kids would go looking at Christmas lights while our parents and Grandma would set up elaborate stockings that were as tall we were that were stuffed with goodies. Grandma always focused on family and loves to have everyone over. When Grandma moved to Utah it was hard on me because i've grown up always having her nearby.

I'm going to miss her sweet spirit and her sweet smile. She was truly a wonderful lady. She really had something special about her. I am so very happy I was able to be apart of her family before she passed on to the next life.
Hey, I was just doing a search on Aunt Velva Skousen's name and it brought up your blog!
My grandma was Carol Davis Dangerfield who passed away Aug. 2008. Aunt Velva was able to come to the funeral and that was the last time I saw her.
Velva's sister, Anna Laura, is my great grandma so we are cousins in a round about way!
I would love to get in touch with you and share what I have on the Skousen line if you are interested!
