February 2008

In February things got a little eventful. At 6 weeks old I noticed Lacy getting a runny nose and seemed like she would hold her breath from time to time. Since she was still so little (barely 7lbs) I decided to take her into the doctors office to make sure she was okay. When we got to the doctors office Lacy stopped breathing, her face went blue and her lips gray. The doctor turned around and dialed 911. Within 2 minutes they had a stretcher in the doctors office and took her away in an ambulance to the hospital. I was so scared and I couldn't get a hold of Jared to tell him what was going on. They got her in the hospital and put tubes down her nose to suck out her lungs. They ran some tests and it came back positive for RSV. The good news was that we caught it early. They admitted us a room and we settled in for what they said could be a couple of weeks. 2 days later at around 6:00pm my dad and Dustin came by and gave Lacy a blessing. At midnight they came in to suction out her lungs, and nothing came up. I was worried and asked what was happening and they said there was nothing in the lungs. The nurse was so confused that she called someone else in,and the verdict was the same. By morning her oxygen levels where the highest that they've been since she got there, she was off her respiratory treatments and her skin was getting back to nice and pink. The doctor came in and had to check her charts twice because she couldn't believe this was the same baby she saw 12 hours earlier. By 2:00pm that day, we were discharged.
It was such a spiritual moment for our family and another testament to us about the power of the priesthood and that our Heavenly Father is keenly aware of our family and our needs.

Lacy came home and continued to grow and get strong! That month we went over to my parents house because they had baby bunnies born
! Kaylee was ecstatic to see them! When she was growing up my parents bred beagles, and she has missed having little animals around. Here are pictures of Kaylee and Lacy meeting the baby bunnies!
